A Celebration for the Earth
In 2003, Temple University Ambler administrators conceived of an idea to celebrate Earth Day on a grand scale - EarthFest. That first EarthFest welcomed about 1,500 visitors and 50 exhibitors. In 2017, EarthFest has grown exponentially!
Hosted by the Temple University Center for Sustainable Communities, EarthFest 2017 will be held on Friday, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine, at the Temple University Ambler Campus, 580 Meetinghouse Road, Ambler. EarthFest 2017 will be held on the fields near our large student parking lot on Meetinghouse Road.
The mission of EarthFest is to promote environmental awareness using sustainable concepts, methods and practices to protect and preserve our environment. Organizations, businesses, students of all ages and individuals demonstrate sustainable concepts and technologies, and provide interactive educational displays, activities, and much more!
EarthFest is one of the most successful and highly anticipated events of the year at Temple University Ambler. It is central to our core values of student-centered learning, respect for the environment and community engagement. Thousands of students from all over the region come together and spend time learning about the world in which we live and the interconnected systems on which the lives of people and animals depend.
EarthFest 2017 is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jeffrey Featherstone, whose vision, guidance and leadership helped create an outdoor, educational experience for the next generation of leaders.
Exhibitors at EarthFest
More than 75 exhibitors, ranging from non-profit watershed groups to for-profit businesses and high school, middle school, and elementary school student organizations, are expected to present their ideas, projects, and initiatives in ways that intrigue and attract young people.
Exhibitors for 2017 are anticipated to include the Philadelphia Zoo, The Franklin Institute, Elmwood Park Zoo, the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Insectarium, FEMA, the EPA, and many more.
