When students begin classes for the fall 2018 semester at Temple University Ambler, they will be met with a special celebration!
Temple University Ambler has planned several activities for students to help them start the year off right by meeting new friends, having fun and acclimating to their new environment.
“Week of Welcome — and the first weeks of the semester in general — are a time for the campus to welcome all of the new and returning students,” said Tara Stasik, Director of Academic and Student Services. “It gives them a period of spirit and fun as they begin their academic year.”
On Monday, August 27 — the first day of classes — the Library lawn will be filled with informative booths featuring the campus student organizations and departments from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Come for the free food and stay for the games, music and fun! Check out information booths to learn about all of the important “outside the classroom” stuff that you need to know and become a part of! Did we mention the free barbeque?
Week of Welcome continues on Tuesday, August 28 with the Ambler Campus Taste of Philly on the Library lawn from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Sample some of your Philly favorites — hoagies, soft pretzels and Tastykakes. Hang out with your classmates, enjoy the music, play some games and have fun!
On Wednesday, August 29, pop on over to the Learning Center Lobby to meet Megan Cranney, Temple Ambler’s new Assistant Director of Student and Campus Life. She’ll be at the Learning Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Say hello and grab a bag of popcorn while you’re there!
There are so many ways to become part of the campus community at Temple Ambler! If you have some free time, need gas money, or want to develop your job skills, the Student Worker Job Fair on Thursday, August 30 and Wednesday, September 5, is the event for you. Students should stop by the Learning Center Lobby between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. or 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. to learn about a variety of positions available for students on campus.
“The goal of the Student Worker Job Fair is to help students find part-time jobs on campus that will acknowledge that their academic and educational experiences at Temple come first,” Stasik said.
Capping off the week, students, faculty and staff are invited to cheer on the Owls as they take on Villanova in the season home opener on Saturday, September 1! Free bus service from Temple University Ambler is available so make plans now to join the excitement at Lincoln Financial Field! The bus will leave the Ambler Campus Parking Lot 3 (student parking) at 9 a.m. Please arrive by 8:45 a.m.
