Temple University receives almost 20,000 first-year applications per year, and each one is carefully evaluated by our admissions committee. We consider everything you have done, but strong academics are key.

Application Deadlines

Temple accepts students based on Early Action and Regular Decision. The sooner you apply, the better. Be sure to find out if there are additional requirements for your program, like a portfolio or an audition. Learn more about Application Deadlines.

Freshman and sophomore years

Keep your grades up!

The Temple Admissions Committee will review grades from your entire high school career.

Junior and Senior years

Take the SAT, ACT, or both.

Temple University will accept the highest combination of SAT scores or take the ACT if that is higher. Check with your guidance department for upcoming test dates, or check out the CollegeBoard.com or ACT websites.

Summer before senior year

Begin thinking about what type of college you would like to go to and what you would like to study.

Summer before and fall of your senior year

Visit the colleges and universities that interest you most. Take tours and go to open houses at different types and styles of schools to get a feel for what each campus has to offer.

Fall of your senior year

Apply, Apply, Apply!

The Fall 2021 First-Year Early Action Deadline is November 1 and the Regular Decision deadline is February 1. You will receive a decision 4 to 8 weeks after we receive your completed application (application, essay, self-reported high school transcripts, SAT or ACT scores, and any letters of recommendation).

October of your senior year

Fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) form to qualify for financial assistance. Seventy percent of Temple students receive some form of financial aid. The priority deadline to file a FAFSA is February 1. You can file online.

Spring of your senior year

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

It is now time to decide where you want to continue your education. Once you receive your acceptance letters, the National Tuition Deposit deadline is May 1. For Temple, the housing deposit deadline is also May 1.
