Join us under dark skies to celebrate the stars and the planets!
During this event, we will look for various objects in the sky and learn how to tell one from the other. We will also highlight the importance of dark skies to animals and the environment and learn how you can help keep the skies dark.
While learning about the stars, you’ll also have an opportunity to take a nighttime garden walk with Kathy Salisbury, Director of the Ambler Arboretum! You’ll additionally have a chance to learn about navigating using the stars with Steve Sassaman, Assistant Director of Recreation, Outdoor Education & Wellness at Temple Amber.
Chief Adam Waterbear DePaul, Tribal Storykeeper and Director of Education of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania, will share Lenape stories about the stars.
Can't tell the difference between local neighbors Mars or Venus from distant stars in the night sky? That’s all right! Temple Ambler EarthFest is hosting this special stargazing event in cooperation with the Delaware Valley Amateur Astronomers and the Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association. All skill levels are welcome!
Please note: Stargazing is very weather dependent. Will we always err on the side of caution to ensure the safety of our campus guests. Rain or clouds will require the event to be rescheduled. All registrants will be notified in advance if that is the case.
