After seven years as a law enforcement ranger at the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park, Moe Greene has returned to Temple Ambler to help train the current group of students completing their ProRanger experience.
During the month of November, cadets in Temple’s Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program (SLETP), located at the Ambler Campus, forswore their razors to show support for cancer patients bravely undertaking chemotherapy treatments.
Police departments and other branches of law enforcement have provided dedicated support to the Special Olympics since its earliest days. It’s an honor they carry with distinction and pride. On November 10, 10 cadets from the Temple University Municipal Police Academy had the chance to be a part of that tradition during Special Olympics Fall Festival 2017. Temple’s Police Academy training takes place at the Ambler Campus.
Since graduating, many of ProRanger Philadelphia alumni have returned to support the program and act as mentors for current Temple students. Seven ProRanger alumni took part in leadership camp this year.
Chris Willard, who has been with Temple's Criminal Justice Training Programs since 2008, was recently appointed Director of the Temple University Municipal Police Academy.
For the first time, Pennsylvania’s state park rangers, overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservations and Natural Resources, are being trained by Temple University’s Criminal Justice Training Programs.
Temple University Ambler is one of only seven institutions in the country to offer the Seasonal Law Enforcement Training Program while Temple is just one of two sites to offer the ProRanger program — Temple is the only university to offer both.
Kelly Tascarella runs toward dangers that, rightfully, would send others fleeing in the opposite direction. At just 22, Tascarella already has nearly six years under her belt as a volunteer firefighter with the Fort Washington Fire Company.
John Hesdon is unique among his fellow Temple owls. Not only is he a Film and Media Arts major, he’s also a member of the ProRanger Philadelphia program, a partnership between Temple University and the National Park Service to train park rangers. That combination is a first.
On Friday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 20, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Temple University students, faculty and staff are invited to learn more about the ProRanger Philadelphia Program on Liacouras Walk.
