Spring has sprung! It's time to put your detective skills to work and hunt some eggs!

The Criminal Justice Society at Temple University Ambler will host a Spring Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning in Bright Hall Lounge. This family-friendly free event is open to all students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

"Every semester, we try to host an event that is geared toward the community. In the fall, we held our popular Operation Safe Trick-or-Treat program," said Criminal Justice Society President Brianna Chiaradia. "This semester, our goal was to offer another family-oriented event for the campus community and our surrounding communities. An egg hunt is perfect for the beginning of spring — bring your own basket and start hunting!"

According to Chiaradia, in addition to an egg hunt, children can enjoy free food, games, coloring, an egg toss, egg races, face painting and more!

"The plastic eggs filled with goodies will be hidden in Bright Hall Circle and throughout the Bright Hall area at the center of campus," she said. "While the egg hunt is taking place outside, we'll have all sorts of activities happening inside Bright Hall Lounge. With the egg toss, for example, kids will toss water balloons back a forth for prizes."

Chiaradia said the Criminal Justice Society is seeking volunteers to help make this day of family fun a success.

"We need assistants for the egg hunt in addition to volunteers for the activity stations. We'd welcome help from any students, faculty or staff who would like to help us for the whole event or just an hour or two — whatever time they can give," he said. "As with events like Operation Safe Trick-or-Treat, we want to create a fun, safe environment for parents and their children to come and enjoy a great spring day."

When people hear "Criminal Justice Society" sometimes "they only think about police activity and enforcement," Chiaradia said.

"A great deal of what law enforcement does is all about interacting and supporting their communities," he said. "That's what we are trying to reflect with our community events."
