Military Appreciation Month at Temple

In addition to Tuesday, November 11, Veterans Day ceremonies, Temple has planned several events throughout Military Appreciation Month to honor our veteran and active duty students.

Veterans Reception

Immediately following the Main Campus ceremony on November 11, a reception will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. in Morgan Hall Room 301D for all veterans who attended the ceremony. The reception is sponsored by Veteran Affairs, the Division of Student Affairs and the Penn Towne Chapter of The Links, Inc.

College of Health Professions "Military Appreciation Treat"

The College of Public Health will cap off Veterans Day, November 11, with a complimentary dessert treat at 1938 Liacouras Walk from 2 to 4 p.m. All veterans will receive dessert, a beverage and a special gift. RSVP to Shelley Osagie, Associate Director, Student Services and Operations at sosagie@temple.edu.

Military Appreciation Day at Temple Harrisburg

Temple University Harrisburg invites everyone to enjoy refreshments and pick up a yellow ribbon to show your support for our veteran and active duty students, faculty and staff on Thursday, November 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Harrisburg Campus Student Lounge. During the event, bring donations for the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. Comfort items such as toiletries and activity items such a model kits and puzzle books are particularly needed. This event is sponsored by The Family Center, a program of Temple's School of Social Work. Information: 717-232-6400.

Military Appreciation Game and National Chair of Honor

Temple Athletics has designated the Friday, November 14, Owls Men's Basketball season opener against American as the "Temple University Military Appreciation Game." During the game, Athletics will dedicate the "One Empty Seat" at the Liacouras Center, reflecting the "One Empty Chair," an important reminder of the sacrifices made for our country by the nearly 90,000 Americans who have gone missing or become prisoners of war between World War II and today.

Theatrical Screening — IN CONFLICT

The Division of Theater, Film and Media Arts (TFMA) will host a special theatrical screening of their award-winning 2008 production of IN CONFLICT, on Saturday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tomlinson Theater. Yvonne Latty, author of In Conflict: Iraq War Veterans Speak out on Duty, Loss and the Fight to Stay Alive, will lead a post-screening question and answer session. Admission is free. Donations supporting the Wounded Warrior Project are welcome.

Diamond Band Military Salute

The Diamond Marching Band will help close out Military Appreciation Month in style with their rendition of the "Armed Services Medley" — a medley of the themes for every military branch — during the Temple Owls Football game against Cincinnati on Saturday, November 29, at Lincoln Financial Field.
