Temple Ambler Summer Education Camps Offer Wide Range of Experiences

As summer is about to begin, this is the perfect time to start thinking about providing fun, educational outlets for your children's creativity and energy when school lets out for another year!

Temple University is planning dozens of new and returning Summer Education Camp programs at the Ambler and Main campuses. These camps provide youths with a broad range of opportunities, from building robots and creating video games to discovering their creative sides and learning new skills that will take them through high school and beyond.

Now in its 30th year at the Ambler Campus, the Summer Education Camp program is offered in June, July, and August as a series of one-week camps.

"The camps are a fun-filled approach to academic subjects in a small-group setting," said Rhonda Geyer, Director of Non-Credit Programs for Temple University Ambler and Temple University Center City. "They provide a wonderful opportunity for children second grade through their senior year to learn about a specific area of interest, experience a college campus and have a lot of fun at the same time."

Parents, Geyer said, have reported that summer camp experiences "helped their child gain more self-confidence, increased their friendship and social skills and helped them become more willing to try new things."

The Summer 2019 camp season will explore topics ranging from cartooning and drawing, creative writing, theater and teen leadership to video game design, robotics, fashion design, forensic science and more. A one-day Babysitting Training Camp is also offered in partnership with the American Red Cross.

This summer, a variety of full-day camp programs will be offered each week at the Ambler and Main campuses from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended camp is also available for parents that need to drop their child off early or pick up later.

"With the one-week camp sessions, families can try several different camp programs throughout the summer," Geyer said. "Children and teens today are interested in so many things that we want to offer them the widest variety of fun, educational experiences possible."
