Angela Davis appointed Director of Development at Temple Ambler

Angela J. Davis believes in the mission of Temple to provide an exceptional university experience to students from all backgrounds and interests.

Recently celebrating her third year at Temple in Institutional Advancement, Davis is an Owl through and through.

"I have a degree from the Fox School of Business in Business Administration with a focus on marketing. My mother, Julia Davis, also graduated from Temple's Tyler School of Art and my son, Charles Patterson, is currently a Math and Computer Science Major at Temple," said Davis, who recently joined the Temple University Ambler team as Director of Development. "So many genuinely good things happened to me as a result of being part of the Temple community. When I had the opportunity to return to Temple, to help provide resources for people that might not necessarily have access to everything that the University has to offer otherwise, I knew it was a way for me to give back to a place that has always been an important part of my life."

As Director of Development at Temple Ambler, Davis is responsible for securing resources for the Ambler Campus and working with alumni and friends dedicated to the success of the campus. Davis additionally works as Director of Development for Regional Giving in Temple's central fundraising unit, covering the northeast territory.

"When I was a student at Temple, for me accessibility was key — I could go to Temple and work at the same time. I worked my way through college, including the Temple gift shop, and took classes at night," she said. "I came to Temple through the Russell Conwell program, which gave me the guidance and support I needed to succeed. I also attended classes at Main Campus, Ambler Campus and Temple Center City, which provided me a wonderful opportunity to personally experience life on Temple's various campuses."

After suffering serious injuries in a vehicle accident, Davis said, Temple was there once again, providing the support necessary for her to continue classes and complete her degree.

"Temple is an amazing place. Temple believes in and cares about people; Temple cares about the community," she said. "It's a very easy place to become excited about."

Before coming to Temple, Davis worked at Merck Pharmaceutical as a Specialty Sales Representative.  Prior to joining the Ambler Campus team, Davis began as a major gifts officer in Institutional Advancement before serving as Interim Director and then Director of Development for Temple's College of Public Health, where she was the chief fundraising officer for the third largest college at the University.

While at the College of Public Health, she worked with faculty, staff and the executive team to secure funds for scholarships, research and various projects within the college. She managed the fundraising team and improved fundraising in various departments within the college in addition to developing many successful fundraising events.

"I am excited to join the Temple Ambler team and I look forward to working hard to extend philanthropic opportunities to our alumni and friends," she said. "My primary goal is not only to raise funds for Temple University Ambler but to increase our overall alumni participation rate. Each time an alumnus makes a contribution to Temple Ambler, it symbolizes a vote of confidence in the campus."

As a dedicated fundraiser, Davis said she enjoys meeting and engaging with Temple alumni and friends to help them achieve their philanthropic goals by supporting Temple, connecting them to various giving and volunteer opportunities.

Temple University Ambler, Davis said, "is a beautiful, unique place with a special mission within the University."

"It's a part of Temple that I think our students really connect with when they've experienced what Temple Ambler has to offer," she said. "My key focus will be to connect with faculty, staff and students to learn how they might want to be involved in addition to building a fundraising plan that supports the unique needs of our campus and the needs of our talented students."
