Join the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Temple for a day of one-of-a-kind educational experiences at Temple Ambler. James Pagliaro, keynote speaker and longtime docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, will deliver a lecture and Q&A on 19th Century French Impressionist Art. Following a provided lunch, attendees will be able to “choose their own adventure,” testing out classes most interesting to them. Anyone aged 50 years or older is welcome to attend.

Keynote Lecture:
Art of the 19th Century French Salon and the Rebellion that Became Known as the Impressionist Movement – Most people love the work of the 19th Century French Impressionists. Want to understand more about the impact that Impressionism had on Western Art History, with its unique painting techniques, color theories, and subject matter? Enjoy an hour long lecture and sumptuous visual tour of the finest paintings of the 19th Century French Salon, as well as the uniquely beautiful paintings of the artists who came to be known as the Impressionists.
About the Keynote Speaker – James Pagliaro has enjoyed a career as a noted and successful trial lawyer. At the same time, he has led a life rooted in understanding, sharing and teaching others about the arts. He has spent 20 years in Philadelphia as a docent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art where he has chaired the Corporate Partners Board, and served as a committee member of the PMA’s Curatorial Committees on European Painting, Sculpture and Decorative Arts. Since retiring from practicing law in 2018, Pagliaro has attended the University of Oxford, where he earned a master’s in art history. Above all, as a former trial lawyer, Pagliaro is an accomplished storyteller, who weaves together the threads of history and art to engage and delight his audiences.

For two 1-hour rounds, pick from a handful of class options to test out what OLLI at Ambler has to offer. Options include: Forest Bathing, Masters of Jazz, Rug Hooking, and a Bio Blitz on campus. Each class is taught by a knowledgeable and experienced instructor in the field.
