Introduction
Hello on behalf of the College of Liberal Arts community - Congratulations on being admitted to Temple University! My name is Darvin Martin and I'm the Assistant Director for Enrollment for the College of Liberal Arts.
This session will highlight the opportunities available for liberal arts students at Ambler Campus.
Ambler Options
The College of Liberal Arts offers two Undergraduate majors that can be completed at Temple’s Ambler Campus - Psychology and Liberal Studies. You can also complete select liberal arts classes at Ambler Campus that count toward many programs offered for completion at Main Campus; which is only a shuttle ride away for your convenience!
B.A. Liberal Studies (BLS)
Our Liberal Studies Undergraduate program will help you to reach your personal and professional goals and is primarily designed to meet the needs of working adults who would like to return to college to complete their degrees, or students who have difficulty finding a major that meets their scheduling needs.
With the guidance of Ambler’s academic advising team, you can design your own plan of study through flexible academic tracks in either the humanities or social sciences and develop your analytical, critical thinking, reading, writing and research skills.
B.A. Psychology
As one of our top majors, Psychology has a threefold mission: To answer questions on the cutting edge of psychological research, to provide training to students in the broad fields of psychology, and to provide individuals and the community with psychological services based on the best current practices.
Our Psychology program provides a modern curriculum covering a breadth of content, ranging from biological bases of cognition and behavior to sociocultural influences on human interactions and psychological disorders. The curriculum is designed to develop students' critical thinking skills through emphasis of the scientific basis of Psychology and courses in statistics and research methodology.
The program also emphasizes the integration and synthesis of information across courses and activities through the stepwise progression of the curriculum through the introductory, foundational, and advanced classes up to the final capstone course that is taken in the senior year.
Students are strongly encouraged to develop applied skills through rigorous and highly focused experiential learning in research labs and community–based internships. An individually tailored curriculum may be selected for the purpose of preparing students for employment or further study in psychology, neuroscience, medicine, law, business, or other fields.
Ambler Psychology students complete the same coursework as Main Campus students, while benefiting from smaller class sizes in a suburban setting and students can also take advantage of exciting research opportunities at the campus’ nationally acclaimed Infant Lab.
